Chiang Mai, Thailand

CM-TP

The city of Chiang Mai (the "New City") was founded in 1296. It was planned by King Mengrai with a moat and wall to act as defensive obstacles.

Wat Chiang Man is the oldest Buddhist temple in Chiang Mai.

A vital part of Chiang Mai's culture is the night market, where vendors set up individual areas and sell goods, food and drink and other services. There are several around the city and they play important roles within the community such as a place for social gathering, for attracting tourism and in turn helping the economy.
